Mongolian is the official language that belongs to the Ural Altaic language family, spoken by 94 % of the population. The Kazakhs (comprise 6% of the population) in western Mongolia speak the Kazakh language belongs to the Turkic branch of the Altaic language family. People over 40 years old speak Russian at some level. The younger generation speaks English. Korean is the third commonly spoken foreign language in Mongolia due to the Mongolian people employment in South Korea.
The official currency of Mongolia is called tögrög or tugrik. Currently, the lowest denomination in regular use is the 10-tögrög note and the highest is the 20,000 tögrög note.
The credit card is widely acceptable in Ulaanbaatar. In the countryside, USD and Euros can be exchanged in banks and are accepted in some touristic service organizations (low rate!). It is wise you exchange some money before leaving Ulaanbaatar.

The tourist camps use traditional Ger (national dwelling of Mongolia) for accommodation and these sleep 2-4 people. The Ger camps also have a separate washing block that contains western style flushing toilets in cubicles and shower cubicles. There are also laundry, eating and shopping facilities and you can charge up camera batteries and plug other electric items in the camps also. Electrical socket: 2 round prongs, 220 volts, 50 Hz
We use camping tent for some of our remotest trip, places no tourist Ger camps or local hotels. Mongolia offers fantastic camping possibilities in beautiful landscapes. On all of our camping trips we provide our guests with high quality 2-3 people’s tents, mattresses and other necessary camping equipment.
We select restaurants based on our experiences, client satisfaction, location and cuisine. Normally we include three meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) each day during the whole trip. In Ulaanbaatar, you can expect a good variety of quality restaurants with international foods.
It is common to tip your guide and driver. The tipping amount depends on the length of your trip, the number of staff, and the number of clients on the trip. If you enjoyed your trip, giving a tip is a way of showing your gratitude. Tipping tourist camp staff, taxis, restaurants, and hotels are not commonplace.
