Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia.   Upon arrival at Chinggis Khan International Airport in Mongolia, you will meet your Michid Mongolia crew and transfer to a hotel, conveniently located in downtown Ulaanbaatar.. The tour starts to the Gandantegchilen Monastery to see the chanting of the Buddist monks followed by visits to old monasteries left from the communist purge of the 1930s. Gandantegchilen is the biggest active monastery in Mongolia. Visit Central Square you will see a big statue of the national pride Genghis Khaan and revolutionary hero Sukhbaatar except for hearing some stories about the area. From here we will go to the National History Museum which tells the rich history of Mongolia. Drive to a war memorial on Zaisan  to see panoramic views of Ulaanbaatar. Return back to Hotel.

Day 2

Continue the tour to Baga Gazariin Chuluu, a zone of granite stone mountains; the highest peak is called Takhilgyn Khavtsal  15 km long and 10 km wide granite stone-mountain elevated at 1768m above sea level and worshiped by local people for years. There are also over 20 kinds of medical herbs like burnet, many kinds of world rare animals like marmot, ibex and mountain sheep. It has been keeping some historical remains such as ruin of a monastery, and ancient tombs.

Day 3

In early morning, located in Ulziit soum Dundgovi province, drive to Tsagaansuvarga  / Colorful Mud Cliffs/ . It is one of the most famous highlights in the Gobi. Tsagaan Suvarga is a strange natural formation of colorful, massive mud cliffs that look like stupas, mound-like structures containing relics. It is over 60m tall at its highest point and continues for an impressive length of 400m. From a distance, the Tsagaan Suvarga looks like the ruins of a city or a building. It has been proven to be an ancient dinosaur land and home to giant animals.

Day 4

After breakfast, we will go ahead to Yol valley  situated in the “Three beauties of Gobi” Mt. National Park. Yol valley is located Dalanzadgad city. After our vehicle brings us to a designated parking area, we will walk through the resplendent valley into the depths of a sheer rock canyon, which accepts no sunlight. Therefore, it has ice until the end of June. The hiking continues 1 to 2 hours for travel into the valley and back to the vehicle. Visit the  trek through the valley.

Day 5

In early morning, we will be transferred to the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan Mountain National Park, Yol valley for drive to to the Bayanzag /flaming cliffs/ which is a famous for containing exceptional dinosaur fossils in the heart of the Gobi Desert. We will enjoy exploring the cliffs in search of dinosaur fossils we may find and visit the Gobi tree grove named “Bayanzag.” .” Which means “rich in saxaul trees.” This tree only grows in the Central Asian Gobi. In the 1923, Roy Chapman Andrews and American expedition discovered the first nests of dinosaur eggs from Bayanzag. Their findings proved to the world that dinosaurs laid eggs. We will explore around significant area, including the saxual trees and wander on the red hillocks.

Day 6

We will drive from Bayanzag /flaming cliffs/ to Khongor sand dunes the largest and most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia. This impressive white sand dunes stretch more than 180km and highest point is around 300m known as Duut Mankhan. Afterwards, we will make a little excursion to a beautiful green oasis of Seruun Bulag near the Khongor River and sand dunes. Then, take a little drive to the highest point of sand dunes known as Singing Dune and climb up to the Duut Mankhan.

Day 7

Ongi was established in 1660 and composed of two temple complexes on the North and South banks of the Ongi river. At its peak, Ongi monastery grounds housed around 30 temples, 4 big Buddhism universities and over 1000 monks at a time. On the way, we will horse riding, camel riding, and visit an authentic local nomad family. There we have an opportunity to experience their way of life, their culture and traditions.

Day 8

Waterfall Ulaan Tsutgalan is located at the historically important Orkhon valley with volcanic rocks in central Mongolia. Waterfall Ulaan Tsutgalan is also known as Orkhon waterfall or Orkhonii Khurkhree. About 20,000 years ago, the waterfall was formed by an exceptional merge of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. It flows from an imposing height of 20 meters and its width is 10 meters. Ulaan Tsutgalan waterfall is the largest waterfall in Mongolia. Except for hiking and sightseeing, horse riding, rafting, camping, and nomad life experiences are the options you could try in the picturesque surrounding of the waterfall.

Day 9

In the morning, we will drive from Ulaan tsutgalan/Orkhon Waterfall  to Kharkhorin, a soum, and one of the country’s major tourist destinations. Historically known as Karakorum, which was an ancient capital of Mongolia Empire founded by Genghis Khan in 1220. Also, Karakorum was one of the most important cities in the history of the Silk Road. In the afternoon, we will visit the museum of Karakorum and learn more about the beautiful ancient Karakorum city and Genghis Khan. Continue to visit the magnificent and the oldest Buddhist Monastery complex of Erdenezuu, built in the 16th century, with 108 Buddhisim stupas.

Day 10

Drive to Bulgan province Rashaant soum, Elsen Tasarkhai   unique area of forest and sand dunes. We will visit a local nomad family where you have an opportunity to experience their way of life, their culture, traditions, and an hour of camel riding. Excursion to Hugnu Khaan Mountain and visit to  Erdene khamba monastery.

Day 11

Early this morning, we will drive to Ulaanbaatar. Visit of a cashmere production factory, main craft of Mongolia. Than we will visit Mongolian State Department Store and black market.
